Nancy Thorwardson ~ Something in the Air

Lillies Ohlsson of Kountry Korral Magazine reviews Something in the Air June, 2009:

Kountry Korral Review

...the songs "Trouble" and "Darling for Tonight", rock-a-billy with the Hi-Beams with both steel and harmonica (entirely a fool for little money in todays music) swings beautifully. Swing State swing and trad jazz quartet with "Big Yellow Moon" and "Something in the Air" with clarinet, lead guitar and bass is clearly good. Brother Mule acoustic power trio with tracks "Times Like These", "Jingle Bobs (with Nancy's gal pal Patty Clayton), and "Easy Love" swings with a prairie scent. "Wagon Tongues" a cappella tune with Michael Hurwitz with Jani & Zeke Little, Emily Reynolds, Susan Hubbard, and Jim Hilburn backup vocals on "Gospel Wagon Train". Powerful! An odd combination is Longhorns: bassoons & bass clarinet plus accompaniment for "Back to Colorado". "Have a Heart" and "Baby Please" above all a jazz combo, Sorrento Connection piano and accompaniment. Eric Thorin is with various groups with his acoustic bass. Cool! Gadzukes till the end is a uke unit, two ukes, bass and clarinet in "Head in the Clouds" and "Used to Be" (with the Quarry Gals). I like Nancy and her blending of Country, Folk, Western Swing, Standard Swing, Gospel and Rock-a-billy. Good text, fine solos and swing. A top CD!
